Phil Komarny
Co-Founder
Co-Founder and inventor of Noviant, with four decades at the intersection of technology and mission-driven institutions.
Phil is the co-founder and inventor of Noviant.ai, a generative engine optimization (GEO) platform that helps colleges, universities, and health systems get seen, cited, and accurately represented by AI models like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. As students and patients increasingly ask AI rather than search engines, Phil built Noviant so these institutions can shape how they show up in those answers instead of leaving it to chance.
Phil has spent four decades at the intersection of technology and mission-driven institutions. He was CIO at Seton Hill University, where he led the first campus-wide iPad deployment in 2010; CEO of Robots and Pencils’ US operation, which grew 3,400% and ranked #34 on the Deloitte Fast 500; Chief Digital Officer for the University of Texas System under Admiral McRaven; and VP of Innovation at Salesforce.
Self-taught since 1985, Phil brings a “pencils first” philosophy to Noviant: tune to outcomes, and let the technology follow. He writes about AI and institutional strategy at philk.ai under the “Above the Noise” banner and lives in Crested Butte, Colorado.
To make every organization we work with the trusted answer in an AI-first world.
To help organizations be found, understood and trusted by the people who matter most, creating better discovery, stronger intent and higher‑quality opportunities.
Why we built Noviant.
Noviant grew from a simple belief: some of the most important decisions people make, such as where to learn, where to receive care, and where to build a career, should be informed by information they can trust. As more of those decisions begin with AI rather than traditional search, the way organizations are understood, represented, and recommended is changing quickly. We saw both an opportunity and a responsibility to help make that transition better as a trustworthy GEO/AEO partner.
Our team built Noviant to help education and healthcare organizations navigate this new era of discovery so AI search understands who they are, what makes them distinctive, and whom they are best positioned to serve. Ultimately, we want to create better connections: between students and schools, patients and providers, talented people and meaningful careers. Healthcare and education shape lives and communities, and we built Noviant to help the organizations doing that work remain visible, accurately represented, and easier for the right people to find.
